I recently attended a wonderful Qigong class taught by Joe Beery of The Daily Breath. He focuses on gentle Five Element Qigong exercises for emotional health, stress reduction, and increased energy. As someone who understands how challenging Qigong can be early on and how rewarding it is as you begin to master it, I found his class to be a great balance between beginner and expert levels.
The class began with Joe answering some of our questions about Qigong. We then did a long warm up, followed by The Five Treasures Qigong movement for the Kidneys. We concluded with a relaxing meditation. I left feeling very relaxed and refreshed. I enjoyed focusing only on one element (Kidney/Water). During my own personal practice, I sometimes feel pressure to work on every element, so it was nice to relax into the simplicity of working on only one. It was also a nice change to practice Qigong with a group. The collective energy of a group tends to make the environment feel more supportive and restorative.
