Be like water!!
Just in time for the Year of the Water Rabbit.
Taoist philosophy often talks about water in terms of strength. It is the most flexible, soft, and yielding natural element, yet it can wear down some of the hardest elements, rock and metal.
Water is also extremely resilient to change. If we pour water in a glass, it takes the form of the glass, rather than holding onto its previous shape. When water heats up or freezes, it adapts by changing forms.
When we are soft like water, we are flexible and yielding, able to adapt to whatever comes our way. These qualities, while gentle and soft in nature, are very strong and keep us in the natural flow of life.
When we resist change and remain rigid, we don’t flow like water. This is when stagnation can happen, resulting in unpleasant emotions and illness.
When we embrace change and surrender ourselves to whatever comes our way, we will naturally adapt and remain in the flow of life. When we are in flow, we feel good, we attract abundance, and we stay well.
Qi gong is a great mind body movement practice that helps us to align with this principle. The movements are gentle, soft, and flowing, but just like water, they hold a lot of power. They help us find balance and stillness within the chaos.
